Join Missouri Humanities and the U.S. Grant Trail for the Sixth Annual U.S. Grant Symposium on August 9, 2019 in downtown St. Louis. The series features a principal lecture by Ulysses Grant expert and author Dr. Tim Smith of the University of Tennessee – Martin. Additional speakers and performances will round out this annual event, intended to highlight and solidify Missouri’s position at the center point for the study of Grant’s military and political life.
Check-in and registration will open at 9:00AM. Opening and welcome will begin at 9:45AM with the first session kicking-off at 10:00AM. See below for session times, titles, and speaker information.
Parking garages, surface lots, and metered street parking are available in the area surrounding Soldiers Memorial and the Court of Honor. The Park Pacific Parking Garage at 1212 Olive St. is the closest parking garage. Downtown meters are generally in effect from 8am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday.
Several MetroBus routes serve Soldiers Memorial. The closest bus stops are on N. 14th St. between Pine St. and Chestnut St.
Soldiers Memorial is about an eight-minute walk north of the Civic Center MetroLink station and about a nine-minute walk west of the 8th & Pine MetroLink station.
From the Civic Center MetroLink station, head northeast toward the intersection of Clark Ave. and S. 14th St. Follow 14th St. north until you reach the Chestnut St. intersection. The south entrance of Soldiers Memorial will be to the right, between N. 14th St. and N. 13th St.
From the 8th & Pine MetroLink stop, head west on Pine St. toward N. 9th St. The north entrance of Soldiers Memorial is between N. 13th St. and N. 14th St.
