The most efficient way to identify other possible funders is to find out if a library nearby has The Foundation Directory and The Foundation Grants Index. These are publications of The Foundation Center. The Foundation Directory provides basic information on every funder. You can use "keywords" related to your project to identify all the foundations that indicate an interest in those keywords within their published guidelines.

The Foundation Grants Index also uses keywords, but the keywords are associated with the actual grants that foundations have made. Quite often you will find that a foundation that mentions no interest in keyword "x" has funded projects recently that pertain to just that keyword. The Foundation Center's web site contains a full list of publications to help you identify funders, including a new publication devoted entirely to grant-seeking on the World Wide Web.

If your project has anything to do with the fine or performing arts, you should certainly be in contact with the people at the Missouri Arts Council. Their outstanding web site is at www.missouriartscouncil.org.
