| PUBLICITY The Friends of Arrow Rock publicized this event extensively with funds from the grant. Targeting central Missouri, the area from which many visitors to Arrow Rock come, the Friends of Arrow Rock placed advertisements in Marshall, Boonville, Columbia, and Sedalia papers. Four radio stations in the area, including National Public Radio in Columbia, were also used to advertise the event. Press releases were sent to organizations and media outlets statewide. Finally, the Friends of Arrow Rock used its quarterly newsletter to disseminate information about the event to its members. Although "word of mouth" was still among the most effective means of advertising the event, surveys at the festival showed that "newspapers, radios, brochures, and posters were high on the list as ways people heard about the event." |
