Museum
on Main Street (MoMS) is a partnership between the Smithsonian Institution and the Missouri and other state humanities councils, in service to museums and citizens of rural America. Through this partnership, MHC sponsors a Smithsonian traveling exhibition and helps Missouri institutions develop public programs to accompany these exhibits.
This innovative project brings rural Missouri one-of-a-kind access to prestigious
Smithsonian exhibitions and opens the door to activities that involve people of all ages in the community.
Past tours include Barn Again! in 1998, Yesterday’s Tomorrows in 2001, Produce for Victory in 2003, Key Ingredients in 2005 & 2006, and Between Fences in late 2006 through mid-2007. MHC is scheduled to host New Harmonies in 2009.
