Governor's Humanities Awards
Each year the Governor of Missouri and the Missouri Humanities Council celebrate the accomplishments of people who have made exceptional contributions to our understanding of Missouri, its people, and its stories. Here is a list of all the recipients since 1997.

- The Community Heritage Award recognizes an individual or group who has made a special contribution to a community's understanding of its heritage.
- The Book Award recognizes an individual or group whose book or publication has increased our understanding and appreciation of Missouri's history and culture.
- The Excellence in Humanities Education Award recognizes one or more teachers of English, history, languages, or social studies, grades K-12, in Missouri's public or private schools.
Nominations for 2009 Humanities Awards
The number of nominations has risen dramatically in 2008, and there are a number of ideas about improving the categories and the nomination process. We will announce refinements in the awards system in the second half of 2008.
