Fair Housing 50 Years Later

February 16 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

- FREE

EVENT IS FREE, BUT REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED – CLICK HERE.

2018 marked the 70th anniversary of the landmark Shelley v. Kraemer Supreme Court decision and the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act.

Join Missouri Humanities Council (http://www.mohumanities.org/), 4theville, Northside Community Housing, Inc., St. Louis Realtors, Rebuilding Together St. Louis, Metropolitan St Louis Equal Housing and Opportunity Council, and We Live Here STL as we continue the regional focus on fair housing beyond the anniversary year with a screening of the film Owned: A Tale of Two Americas and a panel discussion about fair housing for North St. Louis.

Owned is a fever dream vision into the dark history behind the US housing economy. Tracking its overtly racist beginnings and its unbridled commoditization, the film exposes a foundational story that few Americans understand as their own.

The panel is being moderated by Dr. Molly Metzger, Washington University Assistant Professor and author of Facing Segregation: Housing Policy Solutions for a Stronger Society.

Admission to this event is free. Please register on Eventbrite.
