Julie Douglas's monthly column On Family Reading is a feature of the Missouri Humanities Council's free Newsletter, Missouri Passages.

Julie directs our READ from the START program. A former Kindergarten teacher with fifteen years of classroom experience, Julie is also a published author of children's literature and an experienced workshop designer and trainer of adult parents, writers, and care-providers.

She created literature-based learning activities for use in The Mailbox Magazine, a teacher resource, and self-published a newsletter for primary grade teachers, "The Classroom Mouse." She is the author of A Parent's Guide to St. Louis (Parent's Guide Press).

Before and during her undergraduate education at Truman State University, Julie was a volunteer and summer employee of one of the country's premier living history attractions, Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa.
