Carol
Grimes is the Planning and Development Coordinator for the Springfield-Greene
County Library District.
She has a Master’s in Adult Education
from Lincoln University and a Master’s
in Library Science from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.
She has written successful grants to enhance and expand library services,
notably the digitized collections of the Springfield-Greene County
Library available online at Virtually
Missouri. She also works with the Executive Director and
the Board of Trustees to develop long range plans for services and
facilities. Two branches, the Library Center and the Library Station,
are outstanding destination libraries that have become benchmarks
for library facility planning.
Carol is currently a member of the Board of the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield Foundation. She served on statewide committees in Kansas and Missouri to write the first editions of standards for public libraries in both states. She participated in the Missouri Humanities Council Charettes at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum and at the Bollinger County Library, and she also wrote the MHC proposal that funded “Everything’s Wilder in March at the Library,” a month of programs, contests, demonstrations and concerts for all ages celebrating the life and works of Laura Ingalls Wilder. That project included the creation of a 16-panel touring display “Laura Ingalls Wilder: the Journey of a Pioneer Family.”
