Read First! is in full swing this fall.  Tarkio and Mountain View have finished their month-long celebrations of family reading, and Cuba and La Plata are getting ready to kick off Read First! month. The big news is that lots of planning paid off. The response has been extremely positive!

I'm already writing up a feature story on some very neat things for next month's Passages.

Cuba

Cuba will launch Read First! month with family fun and prizes on October 27 at Cuba High School from 5:30-7:30pm.  Two READ from the START programs will also take place in November in Cuba.  The programs are free, but registration is required.

Nov. 10 & 24 at 6 pm at Holy Cross Elementary School
Nov. 13 & 20 at 6pm at Cuba Head Start

A Read First! Workshop will be held on November 18 at 6pm at All Aboard Learning Center in Cuba.  This workshop is open to the public and free of charge. Join us for a fun, one-hour workshop where you will learn fresh ideas for sharing books with young children. To register for any of these programs, call Laura at 573-885-2534.

La Plata

Read First! month in La Plata will begin with “Clickety-Clack on the Community Reading Track” at the Silver Rails Conference Center on Nov. 6 at 5-7pm.  Two READ from the START programs will be held during November.

Nov 4 & 18 at 6pm at La Plata Elementary School
Nov 11 & 25 at 6pm at La Plata Elementary School

A Read First! Workshop will take place on November 10 at 6 pm at the elementary school.  All events are free, but the RFTS programs and Read First! Workshop require reservations. Please contact Glenna at 660-332-7003 for more information.
